After a couple of failed attempts at cutting, I started to have some success cutting 3mm plywood with my laser cutter. After only using it a handful of times, it would no longer cut well. I added an air assist and replaced the stock k40 mirrors and lens.

Feb 17, 2014· The Mfg of my Laser recommends Diagram 2 convex side down. However, I have notice drawings of other Mfg, showing Diagram 1 convex side up. I have installed the Lens both ways and notice that the Laser cuts better with the Focal Lens installed as shown in Diagram 1. I did have to change the Focal length down to get the better cut. Jul 10, 2015· So let’s find mounting spot. Attach bracket to the combiner holder and move gantry all the way to the back. Find a good spot where combiner mount doesn’t touch it. Again, remember that lens adjustment screws have to face back wall! Once you find good distance from the back wall, mark bracket edge with vertical line.

Lens for fiber lasers if materials that are not absolutely plane are to be labeled. The greater focal distance results in a greater tolerance during focusing.

Sep 23, 2021· I went with a 4 inch fl lens II-VI in the original 12mm diameter. I rearranged the optics to go thru the lens first then the mirror (#3) and down to the work. I have the base K40 which probably started as a 30 or 35 watt. I measured a true 28 watts prior to the lens. Moly mirrors, have been running this way for 2 years or so.

Use the micro fiber cloth and spray or dab a few drops of alcohol/acetone on the cloth, and gently swipe the mirror/lens between your fingers in the cloth. No pressure, just let it touch. I just fitted new mirrors and lens. I opted for a 20mm diameter and 50.8mm focal length. My issue is that laser outputm/burn is really wide. Should I have bought a smaller diameter lense for a K40? The mirror 3 housing is also new and takes up 20mm dia lens so I went with that. Thanks
