The Makerspace is home to the Dremel Digilab LC40 Laser Cutter. The laser cutter uses a 40 watt laser to cut, score, and engrave materials up to 19" in width, 11" in height and 1/4" in thickness. The laser cutter is staff mediated and requires an appointment. Project design and support from staff. Consultation request. Time on equipment is subject to availability during designing/planning consultations. Policy. Only approved materials sold by the Makerspace may be used with the laser cutter. You may not use the laser cutter unsupervised.
The Makerspace has two Universal PLS 6.75 CO2 lasers which can cut up to 1/4" thick materials (most commonly wood, acrylic, cardboard, MDF, or fabrics) and engrave on many others (most commonly glass, acrylic, wood). We have a rotary attachment to the PLS for engraving shot glasses, wine glasses, etc. We also have one 20W MOPA laser.
