Laser cutting transparent acrylic : lasercutting
For a laser to be able to cut, the light has to be absorbed. The A5 uses a visible light laser. Acrylic (being clear) lets over 90% of visible light go right on through. On the other hand, acrylic absorbs 98% or more of UV and IR radiation. So, you can cut acrylic with a CO2 laser (infrared) but not with a diode laser (visible light).
